Part of my final photoshoot will consist of me visiting a local bakery, Sweet Delight Cheesecakes. I plan on photographing the owner/baker, Nadia Decius, making one of her cheesecake products and interviewing her. To do so, I had to first ask for permission. I reached out to her via email, and she responded three days later.
Her response (March 14):
She approved my idea to conduct my final photoshoot at her bakery, and I was thrilled. I emailed her later that day to coordinate the best day to achieve my plan.
My Follow-Up Email (March 14):
Confirmation Email Attempt #1 (March 17):
I didn’t receive a response after three days. I knew Nadia could be busy and didn't have the time to respond to her emails. However, I sent another email to confirm if she is still interested in helping me achieve my final photoshoot goals. It was also reaching the weekend (the days best for me to come into her bakery), and therefore, I didn’t want to reach out to her any later; I didn’t want to come across as reaching out to her too late in advance. I sent an email after the three-day mark of no reply from Nadia on March 17.
After sending a confirmation email to Nadia, I was immediately sent an email from the Mail Delivery Subsystem. It informed me that there were issues with sending the email, either because the email address was incorrect or she no longer receives mail. I tried to troubleshoot this issue by copying and pasting the email address from the previous emails with Nadia to guarantee I used the correct email address.
Confirmation Email Attempt #2 (March 17):
I sent out my confirmation email for the second time. Despite my troubleshooting efforts, I received the same email from the Mail Delivery Subsystem that my email couldn’t reach Nadia. Since I couldn't contact her via email, I called her bakery instead. Calling her bakery worked, and after speaking to Nadia, we coordinated that I can come to her bakery on Sunday at noon (the opening time).
I am still unsure why my confirmation emails couldn't reach Nadia, yet I was eventually able to chat with her through a phone call. I am delighted that she permitted me to execute my final photoshoot at her bakery, and I look forward to meeting her.
