Revisiting Nadia

liaavidan

Soon after visiting Sweet Delight Cheesecakes, the bakery where I conducted my interview and final photoshoot, I realized I needed a shot of her, not baking, for my double-page spread. My mother took a photo of me hugging Nadia before I left her bakery, and therefore, I can't use this photo in my magazine. Hence, I revisited her bakery two weeks later to photograph her.

I contacted Nadia for permission to photograph her at her bakery once more via email. The following are screenshots of my conversation with her:

A few minutes after sending out my email, Nadia responded. She said that I could use some of her photos if I wanted. However, I had to explain to her that I was required to take the photos myself for this project. She told me I could come to her bakery on Monday at any time, and I agreed with the date. I was very relieved when she allowed me to photograph her again.

The Results:

As Nadia and I coordinated through email, I revisited her bakery to take the last shots I needed for my magazine. I photographed her in front of the bakery wall with her logo, which added context to her business. This wall was also the most decorative and suitable area for photographing in her bakery; the wall had the color scheme of her logo and bakery and was beside a windowsill, allowing for a well-lit shot due to natural lighting. I first photographed Nadia standing still in front of her logo. She then offered to pose with two props displayed at the counter of her bakery, which I loved as it added more detail and happiness to the shot. Before adding this image to my magazine article, I would like to remove the cable from the background using Photoshop since it is slightly distracting.

Image of Choice:

Of the two images I photographed of Nadia, I would like to use the one of her holding up the props. It adds more excitement and depth to the shot and indicates some products she sells at her bakery. I will include this image in the interview section of my double-page spread.

Overall, I was pleased with the outcome of this last-minute photoshoot, and I am excited to add it to my double-page spread. I initially thought Nadia wouldn't answer my email or be willing to have another photoshoot at her bakery. Nevertheless, she was kind and allowed me to revisit her bakery. My images came out better than I expected, considering I didn't anticipate her using props.
